AUSTRALIA
Both a country and a continent, Australia is extremely large. And with its size also comes its diversity. Of nature, animals and landscapes, but also of cities and people.Even though Australia is, as seen from The Netherlands, on the other side of the world, it feels very much at home. Not in the least because of the heartwarming welcome of the Australians, but als because of the European roots of most of the inhabitants. Then again, the landscape and nature is anything but European.
And as an anthropologist I was of course fascinated by the culture(s) of the native Australians: the aboriginals. One can not speak of 'the Aboriginal culture' as there is a wide variety of Aboriginal cultures around Australia. Their common ground, however, is the connection with their land. And Uluru, which plays an important role in all Aboriginal cultures.
Do you live and/or work in a beautiful place and would you like me to photograph the daily life of the country where you live? Or would you like to have a print of one of the pictures?
